A SIMPLE GUIDE FOR SIGNERS
Preparing for Your
Online Notarization
Everything you need for a smooth and successful remote online notarization appointment.
Before Your Appointment
- Have a valid, unexpired government-issued photo ID.
- A computer or laptop is strongly preferred for the signing. The larger screen makes documents easier to see, read, and sign. Mobile phones can make reading documents difficult.
- Have reliable internet, access to your email and text messages, and a quiet, well-lit space.
- Google Chrome is recommended; Edge, Safari, and Firefox (latest versions) may also work.
Identity Verification
Every signer must complete identity verification. Florida requires valid identification and successful completion of the applicable knowledge-based authentication (KBA) questions. We recommend completing ID credential analysis before the signing. A smartphone is usually easiest for this step because its camera makes it easier to capture a clear image of your ID. For reading and signing documents, use a computer or laptop whenever possible.
During the Signing
Most appointments take approximately 15–45 minutes, depending on the documents. Join a few minutes early to check that your audio and video are working properly. If disconnected, return to secure.notarycam.com and sign in again.
